ABOUT ME
Lindsey McAlister, OBE, JP
(UK/HK)
Originally hailing from the UK, I have called Hong Kong my home and creative haven for nearly four decades. As the founder of the ‘Hong Kong Youth Arts Foundation,’ I have been an influential figure in the arts scene in Hong Kong for nearly 40 years. My work spans the performing arts, writing, directing, and producing, fostering artistic expression and innovation in the community.

Artist Statement
I’m an intuitive artist who explores abstract expression. I let colours and shapes come from my subconscious without a strict
plan. My creative process is a journey of self-discovery driven by strong emotions and a desire for genuine expression. I use various
materials, including acrylic paint, decorative papers, charcoal, and coloured pencils, to invite spontaneity and curiosity, creating a lively mix of visual
themes.

Each piece encourages viewers to connect with them artwork in their own way, through bold strokes and dynamic compositions.
I aim to highlight the growing appreciation for abstract art and personal expression, capturing fleeting moments of feelings and
perceptions. By embracing the unpredictable nature of creativity, I hope to create shared experiences of understanding and reflection.

In recognition of my contribution
to the arts, I was honoured with an MBE in 1997 for my work in youth arts. In 2006, I was elevated to the rank of Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) for my dedication to promoting UK arts overseas.
